Bao Splat concludes the series with humor, warmth, and disruption. Inspired by the question of what might happen if an oversized soup dumpling were thrown against a wall, the piece imagines comfort food transformed into pure kinetic release.
The bao collapses on impact, spreading outward as if its contents have burst free. All the energy of the throw—anticipation, tension, force—is captured and held in place. The familiar softness of the dumpling contrasts with the violence of the gesture, creating an unsettling yet playful tension.
Hand-sculpted in ceramic, each Bao Splat is unique, embracing spontaneity and impermanence while transforming a fleeting act into a permanent sculptural form.
